Helen Hay Whitney - Postdoctoral Research Fellowships [7/16/07] PDF Print E-mail

The Helen Hay Whitney Foundation is now accepting applications for the Helen Hay Whitney Postdoctoral Research Fellowships. The Helen Hay Whitney Fellowships are among the most prestigious awards for the support of early postdoctoral research training in the basic biomedical sciences. This funding program provides three years of support (Stipend: 1st year = $43,000, 2nd year = $44,000, and 3rd year = $45,000; there is also a $2,500 research allowance per year).

Candidates living in North America who hold, or are in the final stages of obtaining, the M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree and are seeking beginning postdoctoral training in basic biomedical research are eligible to apply for a fellowship. The Foundation accepts applications from candidates who have no more than one year of postdoctoral research experience at the time of the deadline for submitting the applications (July 16). Fellowships may be awarded to US citizens planning to work in laboratories either in the US, Canada, or abroad and also to foreign nationals for research in laboratories in the US only. Applications from established scientists or advanced fellows will not be considered. Clinical house-staff training does not count as "postdoctoral laboratory training."

Please distribute this announcement to the appropriate faculty in your department. The number of applications from Washington University is not limited by the foundation, and no internal screening of candidates will be held. Applications should be submitted directly to the foundation through normal University channels. Please note that the closing date for applications is July 16, 2007.
