The Department of Neurology at Washington University and HealthSouth Corporation announce the institution
of two pilot research awards in the area of Central Nervous System Recovery Restoration (CNSRR). The goal of
this award is to promote translational research on the functional recovery of patients with central nervous system injuries, mechanisms of neural plasticity and their effect on behavior. Projects that have the potential to impact
clinical practice will take priority.

. Each grant
will be awarded once and the budget cannot exceed $30,000 spendable over two years. No indirect costs are included.
- Submission of proposals: Prepare your proposal according to these guidelines: page 1 for title, investigators, abstract & lay person description of proposed project emphasizing the clinical impact of research; up to 2 pages for budget description and budget justification; up to 4 pages for description of research plan not including bibliography. Enclose CV and budget in NIH biosketch and budget format. Each proposal should be formatted as follows: length not to exceed 6 pages single space, font not smaller than Arial 11.
- Review: the proposals will be evaluated by a Research Review Committee that will be appointed by the Executive Committee managing the research agreement (Drs. Holtzman, Corbetta, Volshteyn, Clohan). The review process will be completed by June 15, 2008.
- Start date: July 1, 2008.
- Deadline for application: April 30, 2008. NOTE THAT THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED.
- Reporting: within 3 months from the end of the project a final report of 2 pages will detail the utilization of funds and results achieved.
