"Life, Death, and the Renewal of the Neuron: The Leap from Bench to Bedside" took place on February 29th, 2008, at the Eric P. Newman Education Center on the campus of Washington University School of Medicine.  This one-day Symposium was a celebration of the career of Eugene M. Johnson, Jr., Ph.D., Professor of Neurology, and Molecular Biology and Pharmacology.   Dr. Johnson is senior scientific advisor to the Hope Center and a member of the Hope Center steering committee.

The day spanned topics from the basic science of neuronal survival to more translational work on neurodegenerative disease, with talks given by former Johnson laboratory trainees.  The Symposium concluded by highlighting the process through which the neurotrophic factor, neurturin, is being brought to clinical trials.  For additional information about the program, click here.
