The Hope Center's Annaliese Schaefer has won a one-year grant for basic research in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

May 18, 2004 — Washington University's McDonnell Center for Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology has awarded a one-year grant for basic research in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Hope Center investigator Anneliese Schaefer, PhD will receive support for an innovative project, "Characterization of upper and lower motor neurons in a mouse model of ALS: in vivo studies".

Dr. Schaefer, an instructor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Pharmacology, initiated this research project as a research fellow with Dr. Jeff Lichtman. She will continue this project in collaboration with Professors Rachel Wong, PhD and Jeanne Nerbonne, PhD.
