Fernanda Laezza and Biyu He win Hope Center prizes |

The Hope Center is pleased to announce that Fernanda Laezza and Biyu He are the winners of Hope Center prizes for the Fall of 2006. For the competition, which was open to all students and postdoctoral fellows, candidates presented their work during the Hope Center/Neurology Research Seminar series. Fernanda Laezza, a postdoctoral fellow working with David Ornitz and Jeanne Nerbonne, was awarded the prize for her talk, "A single mutation in FGF14 interferes with function of voltage-gated sodium channels in mammalian neurons." Biyu He is a graduate student in the lab of Maurizio Corbetta. Her award was based on her presentation, "Breakdown of intrinsic brain synchrony in spatial neglect: a novel mechanism to explain brain-behavior relationships after stroke." Each of these winners has received a $500 award to attend a scientifc meeting.
